The Academy of Live-Aboard Diving, or ALD as it is frequently called, offers a comprehensive and relevant training program for live-aboard dive vessel crew candidates. The program is specifically designed to prepare certified dive instructors for a fulfilling and successful career as a live-aboard crew member. From seamanship basics to detailed instruction on trip video preparation to customer first service, ALD gives you the all-encompassing foundation you'll need to fill the many hats worn by a live-aboard professional.

In addition to three weeks of traditional classroom structured training, ALD features two action-packed week long internships aboard some of the live-aboard industry's premier dive vessels. This invaluable hands-on training gives the ALD graduate the kind of confidence and knowledge that can only be obtained from actually participating in the real thing.

Another week is dedicated to the potentially lifesaving skill of ship board fire fighting. Ask any mariner what there biggest concern is aboard ship while at sea and they will always answer "fire". More than storms, groundings or any other risk at sea, fire has the gravest danger to life and property. ALD responds to this serious concern with a week of USCG certified training that includes time aboard a realistic training simulator with real fire and real fire fighting.
